This July 1994 news release by the Global Climate Coalition (GCC) was titled, “Climate Coalition Names New Chairman, Announces New Executive Appointments.” The industry-funded GCC opposed greenhouse gas regulations through direct engagement and collaboration with affiliated climate deniers from 1989 to 2002. Its membership spanned across the automotive, utility, manufacturing, petroleum, and mining industries.
GCC used this release to announce various newly elected positions within their organization. Some notable appointments were William O’Keefe from the American Petroleum Institute as chairman of GCC’s Operating Committee, Rob Long from the National Coal Association (which eventually merged with the National Mining Association) as secretary, and Dale Heydlauff from the American Electric Power Service Corporation as treasurer.
