This Global Climate Coalition (GCC) document covered the organization’s position on three categories related to climate change: “The Science,” “The Economics,” and “The Politics.”

Challenging climate change science, the document attacks climate models. It also cites climate denier John Christy’s as providing evidence of a “cooling trend, not warming” of global temperatures.  In addition to emphasizing economic harm that climate policies could cause, the GCC also condemned “the Administration’s goal of reducing emissions to 1990 levels by the year 2000” as a “political target…not based on science or any kind of ecological imperative.”

The industry-funded GCC opposed greenhouse gas regulations through direct engagement and collaboration with affiliated climate deniers from 1989 to 2002. Its membership spanned across the automotive, utility, manufacturing, petroleum, and mining industries.
