This Global Climate Coalition (GCC) “FYI” document was sent to “Communicators Interested in Global Climate Issues” by Frank Maisano. The short document dismisses any correlation between hurricanes and global warming. It states:

“As millions of people flee Hurricane Floyd, many climate activists have again suggested-despite the facts- that hurricanes and global warming are connected. A number of hurricane experts reject this assumption and have done studies to prove it.”

The industry-funded GCC opposed greenhouse gas regulations through direct engagement and collaboration with affiliated climate deniers from 1989 to 2002. Its membership spanned across the automotive, utility, manufacturing, petroleum, and mining industries.
