This document is an undated position statement of the Global Climate Coalition (GCC). The GCC was an industry-funded organization that opposed greenhouse gas regulations through direct engagement and collaboration with affiliated climate deniers from 1989 to 2002. Its membership spanned across the automotive, utility, manufacturing, petroleum, and mining industries.
The document advocated for programs to address climate change that were “comprehensive, flexible and cost-effective.” It highlighted the need for “voluntary industry initiatives and private sector partnerships with government,” and “adaptation and carbon sequestrations programs,” as well as “greater scientific understanding of Earth’s climate systems.”
There are two versions of this document with the same content. The second below may be in draft or internal form.
This document is part of the private collection of Nicky Sundt, a Washington-based climate change science, policy and communications expert.
